Centers Laboratory - The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing specimen collection on patients of all ages in accordance with physician orders, facility policy, and regulatory standards. The primary duty is to ensure accurate patient identification and safe, professional blood collection while maintaining specimen integrity and chain of custody. This role is critical to patient safety and diagnostic accuracy.

The Pittsburgh Girls Study (PGS) is under the direction of Drs. Alison Hipwell and Kate Keenan. In this NIH-funded study, a sample of 2,450 girls from the City of Pittsburgh has been followed annually for 20 years to track developmental patterns and contextual influences on health. Several current projects are focused on stress exposures and racial disparities in perinatal, metabolic, and cardiovascular health.
